Weekend gig

hubby and the view

Hi everyone,

I’m back from a busy weekend. We went to Grindstone lake again this week for fishing. We went there last week and we had a lot of fun. It was chilly on the lake, the temp was about 40F but the view is breathtaking. I’ve never enjoyed any lake as much as I enjoyed it here. I guess, it was because we had a huge body of water in the Phils and its not so much in the town where I’m at right now.

Grindstone Lake in Ruidoso

After about 2 or 3 hours of fishing, we stop by at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort to eat. This hotel is located near the lake and its also breathtaking. We were starving by this time and so we ate at the hotel’s buffet. There were four types of cuisine served but i sticked to Asian :) . After eating, we then head home. This is what we did last weekend.

love ko to!

This weekend, we drive the other route. From Ruidoso, we stopped by at the near town which is the Cloudcroft. On the way to Cloudcroft, you can see the trace of fields covered with snows. Cloudcroft is on top of the mountain and so it explains why they have snow. We ate at big daddy’s cafe this time and I enjoyed their burger. This cafe is known for their burger.

We pumped some gas and at Cloudcroft town and on our way home, we stopped by to beautiful landscapes and took pictures. It was really pretty on that area too.

It’s been days now since I’ve posted some personal rants here, uhmmm..I was a little busy and lately, I’ve been going to the gym to get some work out. I don’t want to get sick because of the weather that’s why I need to keep me healthy. Guess what, I’ll be 27 tomorrow and whew..time flies really fast..parang kelan lang..

This is not my first time to celebrate my bday without my family (parents and bro) and I’m used to it. Yeah I miss them during this time..na-mi-miss ko ang kakulitan though at the same time, I’m happy..cause I’m going to celebrate it with my hubby. First time na mag-ce-celebrate ako ng bday na magkasama kami. Sabi ko I don’t want any party or something like that, kasi kakapagod din after ng handaan. I asked him na kain na lang kami sa labas bukas, umuo naman siya.

I know all of my close friends na nasa pinas nakaalala sa araw na to and kahit malayo ako, thanks sa pag-alala. Just remember that even if I’m far, I hold you close to my heart. Thanks din sa bestfriend ko na si Anne, salamat for featuring me in your blog sis..touch ako.

Salamat po sa mga nadaan and day off ko bukas ha..hehe, in-case na hanapin nyo ko :) .

We attended my husband’s Christmas party last night and it was super fun. His officemates and boss are so nice and I feel at ease with the wives too. The prizes were fabulous and you know what? We won the GRAND PRIZE -a 32 inch SDTV Toshiba.

That’s really pretty nice huh? By the way, here are some of our pictures :)

We don’t have sun today and when we got up around 8am, the wind breeze is cold. I remember, hubby was telling me that there is a posibility that we will have snow today. Hmmm, I’m excited. That would be my first time to see the real snow.float right side =

So hubby and Steph picked up our Thanksgiving meal in the base and I stayed at home to finish preparing our table. When they got back, all we did was to warm the food and after an hour and a half, we had our meal. Of course, we took pictures too (I’ll share it later).

The whole meal we ordered came with an apple pie and I’m telling you, the apple pie is SO GOOD. We enjoyed eating our food and became sleepy after we’re full. We did not took any nap though, we’re here in our living room watching NFL. It’s Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions. I and hubby both like GB so were cheering for them. Later today, college football is on. It’s my USC (University of California) vs. Arizona State. This would be a good game.

By the way, my husband says our table setting looks beautiful :) . I owe that to my mom in Davao :) , I got my design instincts from her. Thanks Mom Feym. And hey, I have my first snow today. We tried walking earlier in our block but we weren’t able to walk more further because it was too cold (imagine we’re wearing fur jackets and pants but still I was shaking). And after we eat and sat here in the living room, Steph saw the first fall of the snow. Ahhhh, it was awesome, so beautiful.

It’s really amazing. Right now, the snow stopped and I can see the mountains now (awhile ago I can’t, it was covered with falling snow). That’s a nice glimpse of the snow in my first Thanksgiving :) .

A day before Thanksgiving

I was OVERLY busy today. I cleaned our home and prepared the dining table for tomorrow’s Thanksgiving (di man diay lalim ning maminyo uy..pastilan). Thanksgiving is a big event here in the States. Our plan for tomorrow is to celebrate Thanksgiving here in our home and watch movies and football. There is not much to do since most of the establishments are closed.float right side =

Anyway, the cleaning and cooking (for today’s dinner) knocked me off. I fell asleep while resting in our living room when Carlo arrived from work (around 4pm). He woke me up as we have plans to go out and watch “Beuwolf”. And yeah we watched Beuwolf, the movie was just fine. I like Angelina Jolie’s line “Are you the one they called Beuwolf?”. We watched this movie in our new theater here in town -the “Aviator”. Our town is progressing little by little, the next building the biz people are building is a big mall. We’re happy to hear this news, this county will have more life now.

On the other hand, I want to greet everyone a “Happy Thanksgiving”. I and my fam are grateful for all the blessings throughout the year. Thanks also for being a part of me, for visiting my ‘virtual’ home.

Happy Thanksgiving to the Martin family in Davao, I wish you to have more blessings and prosperous business in the next hundreds of years.

Happy Birthday Nanay!!

It’s your 50th birthday today and I thank the Lord for giving me a nanay like you. You are such a great mother who is so loving and caring of her family. I appreciate everything you did for us (me and bro). I know you are a little sad that I’m not there to celebrate it with you but you know I love you so much and even if I’m far, I’m always thinking of you. I may not say I love you as often as you did but you know that I really do.

More birthdays to come ‘nay and I know how excited to see your grandkids from me, I promise you’ll see them soon (after 2 or 3 years..hehe). I love you and I want you live for another 50 years. I’ll take care of you when you get really older (don’t worry).

Enjoy your day. I LOVE YOU.

Love much,

Ging-ging (my ding dong pet name)

Nanay,

Happy birthday. We love you and we’ll see you soon. Take care.

Son,
Carlo

***footnote
My nanay is the most understanding person in the whole world. No matter how ‘maldita’ am I, she still loves me and she still says I’m the nicest, prettiest daughter (haha). It’s really true that the love of our mother (or parents, my dad too) is unconditional. I could never forget how I once stumble, made a bad decision but then instead of blaming me, she held me on her shoulders and lift me up. She did not let me go on my own until she felt that her daughter is strong again (remembering all her goodness always made me cry). She’s a supermom too. Taking care of me and bro while working double time to earn an income for the family. She’s the best nanay.

You know, if there would be a next life..I would want to request God as early as now that they will still be my parents on that next life. We may not be rich but my parents taught me (and bro) good values and brought us up with full of life and love. Thanks nanay and tatay
