Happy Birthday Nanay!!
It’s your 50th birthday today and I thank the Lord for giving me a nanay like you. You are such a great mother who is so loving and caring of her family. I appreciate everything you did for us (me and bro). I know you are a little sad that I’m not there to celebrate it with you but you know I love you so much and even if I’m far, I’m always thinking of you. I may not say I love you as often as you did but you know that I really do.
More birthdays to come ‘nay and I know how excited to see your grandkids from me, I promise you’ll see them soon (after 2 or 3 years..hehe). I love you and I want you live for another 50 years. I’ll take care of you when you get really older (don’t worry).
Enjoy your day. I LOVE YOU.
Love much,
Ging-ging (my ding dong pet name)
Nanay,
Happy birthday. We love you and we’ll see you soon. Take care.
Son,
Carlo
***footnote
My nanay is the most understanding person in the whole world. No matter how ‘maldita’ am I, she still loves me and she still says I’m the nicest, prettiest daughter (haha). It’s really true that the love of our mother (or parents, my dad too) is unconditional. I could never forget how I once stumble, made a bad decision but then instead of blaming me, she held me on her shoulders and lift me up. She did not let me go on my own until she felt that her daughter is strong again (remembering all her goodness always made me cry). She’s a supermom too. Taking care of me and bro while working double time to earn an income for the family. She’s the best nanay.
You know, if there would be a next life..I would want to request God as early as now that they will still be my parents on that next life. We may not be rich but my parents taught me (and bro) good values and brought us up with full of life and love. Thanks nanay and tatay

After 8 days of being knocked off..I feel good today
Author: GLadys Erhardt
As I’ve told you in my last post, I had my wsidom teeth extraction a week ago that’s why I’ve been laying in bed most of the time. I only feel better now that’s why I was able to post this. Hopefully I would continue to feel better so I can get back to my old routine. I’m so tired of doing nothing.
I really want to do something, like at least walk around our house..but then I can’t, my medicine knocked me off all the time. It’s a little worse because I’ve been taking 4 meds every four hours but I can’t eat any solid foods. I am even having a hard time opening my mouth, both my left and right gums were swollen. My food is always soup, yogurt, milk, oatmeal, and canned fruits.
I got up around 11am this morning and this is my first morning to feel that my swollen gums are beginning to heal, it doesn’t hurt that much when I try to open my mouth and this is my first day to eat solid food. After 8 longggg days
.
Anyway, Carlo is already sleeping right now (8 21pm), poor husband..he hasn’t had any good sleep since my wisdom extraction. He’s always watching me..to feed me or to help me take my meds. I’m really thankful to have him, he’s always by my side to help me..even if he has work, he still wake up in the middle of the night to help me take my meds.
My husband is one in a million
. Thanks for taking care of me babe. I love you so much.
Wisdom tooth extraction is painful
Author: GLadys Erhardt
I had my two wisdom tooth removed today and it hurts
. I had 4 shots of injection each tooth and they stitch it after removing the teeth. How I hate the injection but what can I do? I was so scared in the dentist clinic, I was even trembling..I can’t control my fear on that time. Its as if I’m in a death chamber..
I almost fainted inside the operating room, luckily the staff are so friendly and they were talking to me so I was calm before the operation started. Right now, I’m taking 4 types of med and it helped a lot. Hence Carlo is in the USAF, all of my meds are free. My gums is swollen both from the extraction (they even stitch it) and also from the injection..haay life.
I would like to thank my mom in-law, she was with me and my hubby when I had my operation. She was so nice that she waited patiently (you know how fast and busy it is here in the States) and was so concern after seeing me right when I get out of the operating room. It’s only wisdom tooth but its painful, my very first time to have 8 injection in my whole life

My not- that busy weekend
Author: GLadys Erhardt
Our weekend is always our family day. There’s not much on this weekend on us, we just stayed at home and watch football. My husband wants to go to white sands park but I don’t feel like going out.
Around 6 in the afternoon today, he was able to persuade me to go out. We went out to have dinner. The food is great but I still miss the Filipino foods
, I think it will really take time before I’ll get used to the food here. And by the way, the meatloaf didn’t turn out good, I don’t like the taste.
The family will going to have a busy week this week, my mom in law is coming to visit us, I have my wisdom tooth extraction appointment and we need to go shopping for Jin-jins birthday gift. tomorrow, both Carlo and I needs to prepare the requirements for my incoming INS interview. I did not post any ads on my Dabawenya since this morning, it’s my day off (haha) but I might post some later tonight. You know those ad postings had helped me big time. Plus the fact that I’m earning, its really fantastic. I’m hitting two birds in one stone
.
I hope you were able to read the guide that I posted in my Dabawenya Babe, because just like me you can earn in your blog too.

10 Tips: Birthday parties that won’t break the bank
Author: GLadys Erhardt
1. Decide up front how much you can afford. Setting a budget – and sharing the details of that budget with your child – can help you avoid spending too much and also help your child have realistic expectations for the big day.
2. Don’t invite too many people. Bearing in mind that kids – especially young children – can connect with only so many people at a time, you can decide with a clear conscience to keep the guest list small. If your child is turning 6, you can have him or her invite six friends; at 7, he or she could invite seven friends.
3. Brainstorm with your kid. Find out what your child really wants the party to include, and let him or her do much of the organizing and coordinating. You might be thrilled to see how simple your child would like the party to be. He or she may even take great pride in coming in under budget – and then using the leftover money for something else.
4. Keep the food simple. Do you really need to provide full meals for everyone, or would cake, punch and maybe some chips and dip suffice? What’s more, you and your child could have fun making the cake together and decorating it.
5. Keep decorations simple too. You may be the only person in the room who truly cares about those massive balloon arrangements you ordered and/or struggled to build. If kids are having fun, the decorations around them are likely to be one of the last things on their minds. A simple “Happy Birthday†sign and some streamers may do the trick.
7 tips for talking to kids about smoking pot
Author: GLadys Erhardt
Listen, stick to the facts and don’t lie — or they’ll smell it on you
1. Don’t lecture. “Look for opportunities to have little chats instead,†advises Mitch Earleywine, associate professor of psychology at State University of New York at Albany. Even if your kid does have the attention span to hear you out, information is more likely to be absorbed when you deliver it over time in small doses.
2. Listen first, talk later. We learn more by hearing the whole story and then asking questions, rather than by dispensing advice from the get-go. Earleywine, who is also on the advisory board of National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, suggests questions such as, “Do you know anyone who is having problems with marijuana? Do you think he thought he’d develop problems?â€
3. Get educated and use scientific fact. You can’t share the truth if you don’t know what it is. Legal and scientific facts not only earn credibility but remove subjectivity. Earleywine explains that recent brain-scan studies suggest the brain is still developing all through the teenage years. That’s a legit argument a kid might be willing to hear.
